Debra T. Grant, LPC/MHSP

I am a Tennessee Licensed Professional Counselor with Mental Health Provider status. I am a professional member of the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC), and Employee Assistance Professional Association (EAPA). I have also had the privilege to work as an adjunct faculty member at Tennessee Wesleyan College in their Behavioral Science Department.

I believe that we all have the potential of creating wellness and need to be consistently proactive when it comes to our health. Taking personal responsibility for your overall health is far more cost effective than medical and pharmacy bills. I provide therapy with a focus on personal and relational growth. I am a friendly therapist who is engaged, direct, and realistic in my counseling with both individuals and couples.Debra Grant's Photo

Even though I have had the opportunity to live an exciting and challenging life over the years I decided to return to school. I earned a Bachelor of Science from Tennessee Wesleyan College with a major in Human Services and a minor in Sociology. This degree was immediately followed by earning my Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Lee University. I continue to enhance my education on an ongoing basis.

Prior to opening my private practice in May of 2012, I worked as a therapist in an outpatient mental health agency associated with Parkridge-Valley Hospital. I practice from a wellness perspective incorporating aspects from a variety of theories to meet my client’s needs. Since I was a young woman I have been drawn to the wisdom found in the teachings of our great world religions. I am grateful to this guidance, for learning to find balance in my personal spirituality and to have tremendous respect for not only my own passage but the passage of others through all these phases we call life.

Besides getting to do what I am passionate about for a living, I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading everything, engaging in enriching conversation, cooking really good food, long walks, and providing a great life for my rescue animals.

"The greatest compliment that was ever paid to me was when one asked me what I thought, and attended to my answer."

                                                                                           Henry David Thoreau
